Progress on Benny

Image
My apologies I haven't posted recently. I needed to have a break. Things with the book have been so hectic since it arrived on my door step. I am now up to the next delivery of books, that means I have sold more than 200 books. I now feel more rested and slowly am preparing for my visit to Glen Iris Primary in book week. I am having some trouble in getting Benny into bookstores but I will keep persisting. My editor Sally Odgers has invited me to participate in an interview blog. This is a great opportunity to work on answering questions on Benny. So as you can see I have lots to keep me occupied.

My Book Launch

My Book Launch, reading my Benny book to children, speeches and signing, It was a fun and very successful community event. I was told by my friends and family that they had a good time and it was a positive buzzy afternoon.

Hello everyone

Wow what a month. Sorry I haven’t been writing in this blog. I have been busy with the tasks I need to do as an author. Getting Benny in book stores, keeping up with financial responsibilities, selling and signing copies.  More recently I had been working on my book launch. Like the book I had my friends helping me with the preparations and on the day.  The launch was on June 22nd and many people attended. I was fortunate to be able to read Benny to children. I then did my speech and Q and A. I was amazed how I spoke infront of 50 people. I felt so good speaking about my book and celebrating community and raising awareness of mental health at my launch. Then I went to the lounge room to sign books and be photographed by Vikki. I was so exhausted at the end of the day but I was so happy that I had achieved so much, so rewarding. I have heard that it was an enjoyable and positive event.

Readings.

I just got confirmation that Readings will stock my book. Julia said that she wants to order a small quantity of my book. I am over the moon. I can’t believe such a reputable and accessible bookstore wants my book, how Benny gets his buzz back. Time to celebrate.

Stocking Benny in bookstores

I am excited my Benny  is in the Escape Hatch Books store in Kew East. This lovely space is also a cafe. my friend had a coffee and we then found out where my book would land. Today I filled an extensive form out to try and get my Benny into Readings.

Honey joy moments

It’s only about 5 weeks since my books arrived at my front door from Logan Queensland. Benny arrived and he has woven his magic. I have had many honey joy moments, whilst connecting with people and sharing Benny. People within my communities have been so generous, supporting me and sharing feedback.  My choir conductor has been so so supportive. He sent me a photo of his kids after they had just heard my story. He said they loved it.  My friend Janine took 6 books to Vietnam and one of her relatives is learning English. My friend said that my Benny would be her first English story book.  Another friend Jenny bought and read my book. Then she passed it over to her taxi driver who has little people in his life.  Another honey joy moments, a childcare worker is teaching bees because it was world bee day this month. She is going to read it to her children in her care.  There is a kindergarten who likes my book and is organising a reading. I keep asking members...
