Benny cruising
Steady sales of Benny. Over 200 books sold. Still have requests.
Book week August 13th to August 23rd
Tuesday at Pinetree village. An inter generational program. I read Benny to 13 3 and 4 year olds from the Nemo kindergarten. They seemed to enjoy the book. They seemed to engage with it because they all coloured the blue bee and yellow bee afterwards. The flower activity was less successful.
There was Great help from people from the retirement village and kindergarten staff.
Thursday at Bendigo Blackburn South. I met the local bee man and he sold honey. A good photo. We waited for the people with disabilities. Eventually they came and my friend Geoff also listened to my story. One of the three seemed to be engaged. They had a great time with food, drinks and money boxes.
Friday at Glen Iris primary with 60 grade 2’s Apparently the fact they were quiet showed that they were engaged. I did my 7 minute talk focusing on my writing process. I had q and a, one child saying what was your inspiration ? The highlight of my visit was the children drew a picture about my Benny book. I saw blue and yellow bees, butterflies, frogs, underground mushrooms and a rocket I really enjoyed freely going around the room looking at their work. With an author’s hat not a teacher’s hat.
Now I am busy planning and organising events for mental health month. Something at the Forrest Hill Community Space school kids on school holidays. Maybe a story time. It’s a very busy month because it’s my 50th birthday.
Well on I go
